The day has finally arrived!!

Post by joker » 13 Jul 2015, 10:25 pm

well all them questions and waiting period has finally paid off!!!

For what seemed like months for the permit to be processed it has finally been finalized and i am the proud owner of a puma .22lr. There is 2 five round magazines, 1 nine round and a few types of ammunition to try out

it is a bit rough around the edges and the bolt was very stiff, although i been sitting here in front of the TV working over the bolt and i must say it has loosened up quiet a lot from when i purchased it.

Although when downward pressure is applied when pushing the bolt in, it kind of catches. It kind of makes sense that it would be catch but is it that normal or one of them 'you get what you pay for' kind of things (im not putting the downward pressure on purpose just sometimes when im pushing it in it happens)

hopefully this weekend ill have the opportunity to get out to wombat SF to let off a few rounds.

thanks everyone for your help :friends: :drinks:

Nice mate! I'll tell you now if this gun performs half as well as mine has you'll love it. I've done thousands of shots from this rifle now but after a few hundred it was already feeling smooth, now it is fantastic

it looks and sounds like a great rifle from what I have heard.
Look to be honest while some expensive rifles are expensive because of some "reason" what ever that may be...you will probably find allot are just expensive because they got a expensive brand slapped on em lol.
Don't think because its cheaper that its "cheap"

perhaps it just needs some TLC to get everything running smoothly like a bit of lube in all the right places...pun unintended ;) Just don't put lube in all the wrong places....err also pun unintended lol.

edit: and if your like me I just slap lube on everything...err  :wtf: :?

Looks nice. What is the rear sight? I can't tell because it looks like the front is hooded.

Give the whole thing a good clean, in particular the barrel with a solvent. Then a light oil on all parts except the bore, that must be clean and dry.

Enjoy.

Thanks every one :)!!

I'll be honest for a cheap .22 I find it to be great (Not that I have a whole lot of another guns to compare it to lol)

I ended up going to wombat SF today and letting off more then a few rounds, it was more like a couple of hundred rounds lol :D(the only reason why I left was ran out of ammunition hahaha)

Didnt actually see anything to shoot so was just doing target practice

Open site was fun and all but I think I'm going to shop for a scope to out on it

After talking to a few people on here I think the scope of choice will be a nikko sterling 3x9x40. Going to call a few shops tomorrow and compare prices with eBay.

By the way is their anything wrong with buying from ebay? (I mean in relation to fakes being sold :s?)

I put a tasco 4x32 on mine. It is a great little scope for bunnies under the spot light, really bright way better than the nikko on my old one.

Cheers dan

that was pretty much my first rifle (Norinco JW15E) with a nikko sterling 3x9x40 scope. Lasted me about 6 years and worked reliably and I just traded her in for a Lithgow Crossover .22LR. I hope it treats you well as mine did :)

Can any one recommend where to go to buy the scope from. Having a bit of trouble contacting places as by the time I finish work everything is closed

Not really fussed if it's the Tasco 3x32, nikko 3-9-40 as long as it's a reasonable price

If you don't need a permit/license you can usually find it online somewhere.

Or cheaper to import from the states possibly depending on what it is.

I've totally gone off Ebay for anything new because of the amount of fakes on there.

I wouldn't have thought it would be too hard to monitor on their end but it doesn't look like a lot is done to bring down listings of fake goods?
