simply call your firearms registry and ask. I know they do extensions in QLD through a friends experience.

You may be waiting a long time so could ask for the PTA to be extended for ages (or repeatedly) or
a refund due to the ban, then reapply for a PTA when you know it is arriving.

Just looked up the qldp web site and got this , will still give them a ring thoCan the Permit to Acquire be extended if I have not acquired the weapon and it is about to expire?

No. Section 45(1) of the Weapons Act 1990, states

“A permit to acquire remains in force for the term, not more than 3 months, stated on the permit.”

Therefore, once the Permit to Acquire has expired you cannot acquire the weapon under the expired permit.

I thought they were now valid in Qld for 6 months. I might be wrong.

Under these circumstances it would be worth phoning them and get them to respond in writing, but first ask, who can answer this question with certainty first. That way you are sure you are getting the right person.

they may say you need to apply again, which you can, and then ask them if you do that will they process a credit for the first one. They have done that before for me when somehow they screwed up PTA's for me on my wife's licence…….and we have NO idea how that happened.

There is one section that said 3 and another section that said 6 , I don't know it seams like another grossly complicated whay of taxing us

One of my contacts in qld had his pta refunded in full by weapons licensing. My bet is they are pre empting a cat c regulation change
And if today is the day you call me home,
oh lord,
may I die in a pile of brass with the smell cordite lingering in the air

I'd be getting my money back for now until there is some clarity on whether we'll be allowed these or not :(
