There might be a few Glock shirts.

We can't carry our firearms in a situation like that but I might have to start turning up in full camo with every hunting accessory I can carry

Anyone else carrying on the day to show their support Title_II or were you flying solo?

I just notice no one else has anything in the photo as far as I can see

I think it is safe to say almost everybody was carrying. As for open carrying, perhaps 25%, rifles, probably 5%.

They won't check rifles when you go into the capitol building so there was good reason not to bring them for most people unless they made arrangements.

Isn't sure that that's actually true, you are licenced to own and carry your firearms, I go into town to buy guns and can carry them to the car, you can carry them to the range.
Not saying the police wouldn't get major pissed but I don't think an unloaded, slung and lawfully owned rifle would be technically illegal at a rally.
I'll go now and give the rego a looking at.

Maybe you would also be visiting a gunshot at the same time :unknown:

I know you are talking about Australia, but for the sake of clarity, my rifle was loaded :) I don't know anybody that carries unloaded guns. Unless of course they are long guns boxed up in the car, no reason to have a gun loaded that you can't use.

Maybe not in the firearms but I know there is something about ".......in a manner likely to cause fear" in one of them. If not the firearms act maybe the criminal code act?

Where ever it is, I think you can be sure you will get more from the cops than dirty looks if you're walking around town with a rifle slung across your back for all to see.

I think it would.

Pretty sure the legislation around possessing (that's carrying around, not owning) has wording around genuine reason for doing so?

e.g. on the way to hunting spot, on the way to target range, on the way to gunsmith etc. I didn't think it was legal to be driving around, carrying, just because you could.

Fashion accessory for rally isn't on the ok list there I'm pretty sure.

I kind of like that. :)

But just to be clear. When legislators have to line up three rows deep in front of anywhere from 500 to 9,000 angry armed people (depending on the year, there is ebb and flow) you probably don't consider hundreds or thousands of guns at the entrance to the capitol as fashion statements. It's a warning.

Looks like we have a few nervous legislators recently migrated from New York and New Jersey.

It's not exactly an average day to day observation in Pennsylvania, either ;)

But we can, and we will, and you better know what it means. Next year could be your last if you violate Article 21 of The Constitution of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

§ 21. Right to bear arms.
The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of
themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

We can only because we do.

Rights not exercised are rights lost. We have people in this thread saying it is legal to carry guns in public, and others reminding us that you would probably be thrown in jail for something nonetheless.

That is the way it works. If you are not careful, you will lose freedom of speech and the right to confront your legislators for redress. People here have already expressed concern about being who they are, saying what they want to say. In other words, many here live in the shadows as gun owners, and speak in hushed tones only amongst each other. I am certain that the people that want to take your guns are very pleased with this. I am also certain that if this persists for much longer, your fears will be realized, and asking your government about any of your rights (not just firearms) will end up an indication subversion.

You have lost your firearms rights. Yes, I know you don't have it Constitutionally protected the same way we do, but that never helped us and no legislator or court ever gave a damn about it around here anyway. Until we took it back by force. But your firearms are not your only concern. Keep hiding in shadows, keep living in fear of your government, and they will criminalize you. For dissent, unpopular opinions, you name it.

Rights not exercised are rights lost.

I'm unsure if Oklahoma changed it's rules regarding long arms when it changed our concealed carry permits to carry permits, concealed or open.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

What would have changed?

A long arm isn't going to fall under concealed anything... So isn't it just carrying it?
