Happy as a kid on Christmas morning now my new you has arrived! It's a Zoli built .58 cal 2 band Enfield. These are what where used all over the British empire (until they introduced the Enfield Snyder breech loading rifles) and by the Confederate army in the American civil war. I looked up the proof marks and it was built in 1979 and amazingly has never been fired! Apart from some hard to see handling marks, it's in as new condition. I've already bought the Minie ball mould and cast 150 bullets and will be making smoke at Lady Noisy's farm all weekend to how it behaves and where it shoots. I modified the bullet mould so it can cast a variety weights and lengths and depths of base cavity to experiment with.
Will write more on this once I've tested it.

In other words, it was used by targets :D

She's a beaut. I really need to get into black powder. It's really fun. I don't know about OZ, but they aren't even legally considered guns in the US. Same as a water pistol.

There's a real thrill tamping that sucker, firing the smoke pole, maybe catching a glimpse of the ball flying downrange, and actually seeing the target knocked over rather than just getting a hole :D

In the Yankland, they are not legally guns. They are like a bicycle. Provided OZ doesn't regulate bicycles ;)

Making paper cartridges for it - now that's a pleasantly interesting evening activity.
