If you knew what they were worth complete in very good condition that price wouldn't seem so over priced.

Maybe.... but a rifle without a bolt is worth.... hang on, I'll grab the calculator.....um, carry the 1... approximately $ZERO.

Good luck finding a bolt$$, then it needs fitting, if you're extremely lucky a new bolt will headspace with no work else; maybe setback the barrel, chambering.

No thanks.

Overrated and over priced as far as I'm concerned, may have been good back then but most rifles today can shoot very well for a fraction of the $$$ outlay (I own a AI and it's a nice rifle but I still prefer to use my Howa's

My point is illustrated here, with a bolt it's a $1500-1800 rifle. If you're the kind of guy who has a draw full of old rifle parts you may be able to make something of it, but you'd be offering less than $1200.

if you're the guy selling it and paid $1800 for it then lost the bolt in the bush you probably think it's s fair price

http://m.usedguns.com.au/Product_Desc.aspx?Pid=68180

That said I'd take the Tikka M55 there for $650 every day of the week ;)

Scott, didn't you have one of those?
Did you ever get it shooting? I recall you weren't having much luck getting it to shoot consistently...

Yeah still got it mate, haven't bothered with it to be honest, I'm sure with a bit of stuffing around I could get it shooting how I like it but I just find the Howso's so easy to get to shoot right, this Sako I have tried all sorts of powder/projie combos and 1 or 2 showed some promise so will fiddle around those and see if I can get better out of it, nice looking rifle etc but been a PITA to get any decent groups out of it (may just be the pencil thin barrel too) it still gets the job done in the paddock so I guess I can't complain too much, just expected something better from a rifle I payed 3x what I did from the Howso's - ah well such is life hey :unknown:

Rifle without a bolt is worthless. I don't think the guy makes any sense to me. Probably he stole it from somebody.

Why is it stolen? Could be something left from a deceased estate where the bolt has been misplaced or the bolt was lost somehow, there are many many reasons why the bolt is not with the rifle and I can't imagine a gunshop would be selling stolen rifles :?

I've wanted to love Sako rifles over the years, probably due to reputation and testimonials from others ....

Consequently, I've owned 5 Sakos but, could never find any 'attachment'.

They're NOT BAD, but I don't consider them THAT good. Certainly, not worthy of the sort of premium demanded, over and above other 'more value' firearms.

Offer $50.. thats all its worth..
A lot of products are well over priced. I call it the wedding cake story. Go out get a price on a nice chocolate cake. Go back the next day and ask for a chocolate wedding cake, price will go up by about $250. Some OHS stuff is the same. Its called marketing.

I used to own 85 Classic Deluxe few years back. I don't know why any of those Sake rifles are sold at expensive rates. There are many rifles other than Sako's which are better.

bolt missing, bore in VERY GOOD condition

Complete speculation here but I think most sceptics would translate that into "lost the bolt and found it not economical / not available to replace"

If you were interested you'd definitely want to line up a replacement bolt before buying I would say..

If it's something fancy like a Ferrari I guess you could part it out front if you want your neighbours to think you're a big shot

Is 'snobbery' part of the Sako allure ?

( I find the Beretta / Krieghoff / Perazzi mob, look down their noses when I front up with a Winchester. )

And rightly so! Best way to shut knobs like that is to out shoot em and strangely enough it ain't that hard either cos most of em have SFA ability anyway hence they try and compensate by buying expensive gear :D

Re: Over priced Sako rifles ?

I finally got that bloody Sako trigger sorted on the L461AI - I pulled it apart, trimmed a spring and polished the faces to a mirror finish, now it's nice and crisp, the safety doesn't work (not sure if it ever did, not that that worries me cos I don't use em) I only load when I see something to shoot or I chamber a round when whistling and unload when nothing presents so all good.

I also opened up the barrel channel so it's fully free floating now and only other thing to do is bed the action and work up some loads and hopefully that will get it shooting to an acceptable standard. :drinks:
