Hi there. It looks like there is a scout mount on a lever ( probably 30/30?) your son has.....
Without more details I would start the suggestions by mentioning a Ruger Scout in 308. Similar to your lever but with more punch.

peep sight goes well with a lever, Is it a dirty-dirty?

new front sight a peep and the rail it is a 30- 30 he is like a lot of the young guys he wants best new thing but he didnt want to pay for a new guide gun .
He is looking at red dots and scopes for the gun.
It looks good for a 40 year old gun.

it is a xs sight system they are the most popular with law enforcement with glocks.
they do make sights for a lot of typ of guns and the kid just ordered it and put it on.
