Regrets Regrets Regrets ....

Post by MR. WINCHESTER » 11 Feb 2016, 5:36 pm

So many firearms that I've owned, then sold ...

Wish I could 'have em back again'.

https://www.usedguns.com.au/Product.aspx?p=72070

I bought this same rifle for $370 new.

Now the seller is asking ... HOW MUCH ?
In ONLY very good condition !

And, it's used !!!!

Could share the exact same story about so many other fine rifles and shotguns.

Wish I had em all back with me.

Boo Bloody Hoo.

I regret selling my first center fire, a Marlin 3030 to help pay for a 3006. Paid about $150 in about 1978. Bloody hell look at the price now.

Oh the ones that we've let go... Live and learn.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

I try not to think of what was done in days of yore. "Young and foolish" resounds in my head when I do, and I sometimes need to bang my head with things hard. Fancy swapping a mint K98k for a Webley air pistol, and things worse! Wonder what the good condition 1924 Oldsmobile I gave away would be worth now?

I've kept most of the good stuff. I'm more regretful over the stuff I DIDN'T get when the gettin' was good.

I've sold one firearm in my life, an excellent condition No4MK1. Let it go way too cheap and regret it a lot. I've since resolved to not sell any of my other firearms... much to my wife's frustration

I'd be real surprised if he actually got $1600 for it though.

LOL,,,, Not firearms for this particular regret, but a lost opportunity in property I sure wish I had a time machine.

As a teenager and earning pretty good money at that time, if only I could've seen ahead.
A locality that I used to frequent for surf fishing, was about 1/2 hr drive from the nearest town.
The land that followed along behind the sand dunes (which were only about 3 dunes wide) was owned by an old hermit.
He had his cabin built right on the edge of the dunes, and a simple 5 min walk through the dunes landed you right on one of the best surf fishing beaches in Sth Aus.

Well the old fellah died, and his property (approx. 200 acres) was put up for sale. (even back then it was real cheap)
I thought that if I bought it I could run a few sheep on it, and have good fishing access.
But the area was pretty dry and no-one else was interested either.
So I never followed through.

That land stayed unsold for a couple of years by memory.

Now ( because it is Terra Rossa soil ) all of that land plus all of the other adjoining land for about 12 kilometers, is under grape vines and worth a fortune.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,,,,,,, if only,,,,,,, :violin:
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.

the secret to eternal happiness .....

Consider every decision thoroughly
and
Never regret a decision.

All of those 'mistakes' you've made.... had you have followed those paths then you're life may indeed have turned out differently as it is today.... would you have really wanted that ?

You sold a rifle decades ago..... you probably sold it for what it was worth then, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less to move it on quickly....had you have kept it then the proceeds wouldnt have been available back then.

Logically (you'd like to think) the money back then was value added to after the years have transpired to much more than the $$value to replace the rifle today

G'Day Fella's,

Mr Winchester, many many years ago now, I learned that the worse thing you can say in life is "Gee I Wish"!
Since adopting this mind set, I have never again experienced that problem!

Doh!

I have amassed a total of 56 firearms over the years. I have never sold any. My only regret is not having a larger collection.

I don't think I have 20. But I have a few of them setup to fire different calibers in different form factors, so that would get me over 20 if I looked at it that way.
