Savage Mkii Sighted in.

Post by Stubbles McBeard » 28 Mar 2016, 11:01 am

Finally got the chance to put a few shots through my first rifle over the weekend. I was shooting off a bipod resting on the top of my car, I'd like to tweak the scope a bit more eventually, perhaps off a bench with the rear of the stock supported a bit better. I don't have the steadiest hands in the world, and there was a little bit of a gusty breeze, but I'm pretty happy with my absolute amateur efforts, 7/10 shots into a 2x2" square at 50m, and the three s**t ones were my fault entirely. Enough babble, pictures time.

Savage Mkii FXP package rifle, came with the 4-9x40 Bushnell Scope installed and bore sighted.

10 shots at 50m, the three flyers were my own mistakes. As soon as I pulled the trigger on those I knew they were going to be s**t shots.

My brother and I had an absolute ball messing around all afternoon, and now he's going to apply for his license as well.

Nice shooting, nice little gun. My Savages are Stevens Favorites in 22LR and 17HMR and I'm no where near as good with them as you are with yours.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

Sorry, should have mentioned it's in 22lr. 150m? I struggle seeing the holes at 50m! Eventually I'll push this a little further, but I went with a 50m zero because I'm not likely to even see a rabbit much further than that.

Hi - I am new to this (just purchased this rifle today), I'm looking at a bipod. May I ask which one you have/had in this picture please? Thanks in advance

Get yourself a reactive target. We were hitting a 4" gong at 150m with 22lr a couple of weeks ago. I've only got a 4x32 on my rifle so you'll be fine with your set up
