New rifle

I got tired of wearing out my hunting rifles at the range so decided on setting up a target rifle. I chose the 6.5 Creedmoor as the cartridge because I liked the concept and didn't want another 223 or 308. I bought a Howa heavy barrelled action, 24inch barrel with a 1:8inch twist. The stock came from Hatchers stocks in Victoria, and the scope is a 6.5-20x50 Vortex Viper with a 20moa rail and Warne rings. The biggest problem so far is getting brass, but I managed to get 100 rounds of Hornady factory ammo (@ $52 for 20). I shot off 6o rounds but got impatient and pulled the bullets on the remainder, I'm currently playing with Nosler 123gn Custom Comps and 140gn Hornady Amax. Best group so far at 100m is .415" with the Custom Comps. I've been using 2209 for both bullet weights but I'm going to try some 2208 for the 123gn CC's.

Beautiful wood. I love the complete look too. If she shoots half as good as she looks, you've got a winner. The 6.5 Creedmoor is a cartridge that I'd consider if I were to get back into reloading.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

I think so mate, I'm in the process of getting more brass and working up loads for the 140gn Amax, although the 123 gn Custom Comps I've tried make nice little holes. By the way, anyone know if it's OK to bring in once fired cases? I have a mate in the US that can send me a couple of hundred once fired Creedmoor cases.
