Got to play with my new but very, very, VERY OLD Husqvarna built rolling block rifle 12.7 x 44 cal. How old? She was built in 1871! There are no pits or rust in the action or barrel and the stock isn't marked much either. The trigger is light and crisp which is unusual for a 19th century military rifle. Even though it's not required to be registered I got it done as it'll be a regular comp. shooter. You can't get 12.7x 44 ammo any more but it's so close to .50-70 Govt. that by polishing the chamber and narrowing the case rim they'll chamber, fire and extract no problem. Gunna have lots of fun developing a target load and it's showing extreme potential already.

There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.
She's a black powder burner only. That old Swedish/Norwegian caliber was obselete by 1900 hence no need to register it but since I converted it to .50-70 and will be used regularly it was best to be safe and put it on the list.

Today at the Seymour BP Club's monthly long arms comp I used the new (145 year old rolling block) in the 200 yard "Big bull" event and scored 2nd place with a score of 90/100 pretty stoked with its performance considering it was up against dedicated target shooting Sharps, Winchester Highwalls with tang mounted vernier sights in a field of ten competitors.
