Lithgow LA102 Centrefire

Post by Flyer » 01 May 2016, 11:08 pm

I see prices are already advertised on a lot of sites - though I don't know if any have been released yet. I recently handled the Crossover and was impressed by the quality (though I'm no great fan of the stock). I don't need another rimfire, but the centrefire looks like it has potential.

So what are people's thoughts on the impeding centrefire release? Is anyone planning on buying one?

I have a la101 in 22lr its great feels like a well put together rim fire rifle. I have seen that they will be releasing that La102 soon i would have bo hesitation in getting a lithgow la102 maybe in a 223 caliber.

What problems have you had with your 22?

Oh no, let's not start all that again. Please see recent threads on Lithgow rimfires! ;)

How do you find the stock and overall feel of the Crossover? All my rifles have Euro style stocks - which is how I like them (even with scopes) - and I felt the Crossover was a bit "tail heavy" if that makes sense. I'm wondering if a heavier barrel centrefire will feel more balanced. Apart from that, the Crossover barrel was nice, the action was slick (for a new rifle) and it felt very solid. Overall, it had a very high quality feel to it. I want to like these rifles, but I wish they'd offer a choice of stocks like other manufacturers do.

I was going to buy a LA101 in 22WMR, but finally grew sick and tired of the waiting and continued missed dates on when they would be available. They just dont take the end-user market seriously I think. Look, there is a preview review of the LA102 in the latest Shooter mag that I received yesterday, many shops will take orders for them, but go to the Lithgow website and there is NOTHING. you wouldn't even know that it's going to be called LA102. I grew tired of watching how the company operates, so I bought something else.

Dunno abut not taking the market seriously but they definitely let the cat out of the bag waaaay to early with the 101.

So much buzz and anticipation then took so bloody long half the people lost interest :problem:

Shot a mates la102 today and I was very impressed with it. It was a 308w, nice feel about it and shot good groups, I'd buy one over a tikka, if there were more calibers and barrel lengths. The cerakote style paint work with made in Australia writing down the side just topped it off.

The LA102 will certainly be at the top of my list when i get a 243.

I've had my LA101 (walnut) for 3 weeks or so now. It looks awesome, feels great, works great and shoots very very well.

Not a fan of that safety switch, something just doesn't look right about it. I have no doubt it's as ergonomic and functional as possible though.

The action looks solid as a brick shlthouse

It's certainly an ultra modern looking rifle.

Yeah i thought that too, the safety is sh*t, they should have kept it like the rimfires, but i can get past that because i never use it lol

I didn't notice the safety on the LA102.. it does look a bit odd. :?
The LA101 safety is good but is a bit loud.... using two fingers to push it forwards muffles it enough though.

Curious myself how they are. Saw Ozziereviews vid and has changed my mind to think of one but he also highly reviewed the 101 and I have read so many with issues.
I prefer personal user reviews over those given the product to test. Owners are more critical having bought and continually use an item.
Sponser/promoted reviewers can be given a flawless item hand checked over and corrected by the company compared to off the line.

Only thing I can nit-pick about is I think a double stack mag would be better. Still no mention of twist rates, either.
