Hey one wheel,

Give Allen or Jenny a ring at Green River Rifle Works, here in Adelaide, he has a second hand Euro Arms Plains rifle, which look similar to
the Lyman. $450.00 I think he said. He's the go to man for all your bits and pieces. Being second hand it might come with a stainless Ram rod included.
They're good people to deal with and there is no more well informed Black Powder person in Australia.

Welcome aboard.

Just don't blame me if you end up with half a dozen B/P rifles, guns and pistols.

Offer still goes if you want to have a go one day.

Not only will you end up withhalf a dozen BP rifles, guns and pistols but you'll find yourself learning leather work, bullet and ball casting, dress ups, wood work, Youtube trawling, metal machining, making a new safe.....I told you - it's a slippery slope your on now!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Just going off what Ive heard is that the best of the best flintlocks aren't nearly as reliable as a cheapest percussion rifles, in terms of what happens when you pull the trigger, not accuracy so much though

No, no, no young man, you are very ill informed.

They are an art, that's for sure, but a well tuned Flint lock in the hands of a good shooter, can quite easily win a Clay pidgeon shoot
up against Percusion locks.
I think it was 'Mythbusters" who showed the two different rifles side by side fired simultaneously, and the impact on
the target was almost identical.

Biggest problem is more likely too many people wanting a Daniel Boon style rifle but not interested in getting proper tutoring.
All locks can be 'tuned' just like modern rifles.
My opinion is to start with a Percusion, then go to a Flint when you've had plenty of B/P practise.
Pedersoli, supply both locks with at least two of their models. (the Kentucky and the Alamo). I had one, fantastic rifle.

Carry on men.
