.223 Scout Rifle

Post by huccl » 11 Nov 2013, 9:11 am

Everyone knows the Ruger Gunsite Scout obviously...

Is there a .223 version of this by anyone?

I know Ruger only do the .308 but someone must do a .223 in this setup?

Cheers.

Kind of not the purpose of a Scout rifle though is it?

.308 is the 'cover all' calibre that you can basically do everything with. .223 is going to be too small for a lot of game.

What's wrong with the A-Bolt I see in your sig there?

The Steyr Scout comes in .223. Same concept as the Ruger Gunsite more or less.

As you may have caught in another threat that's going on about Steyr at the moment, they not a cheap rifle though.

$3,100 or something vs $1,200 or whatever the Ruger Scouts are going for these days.

Steyr as mentioned. Not sure of anything else though in .223 for a Scout.

.223 is too small of a calibre to be a "one gun fits all" setup.

The Mossberg MVP would come pretty close to fitting except for a forward mounted optic but it wouldn't be too hard to rig one up and they're quite economically priced compared to the Steyr

Yep, something from the MVP series will probably be your closest fit without spending Steyr money.

I always thought the Ruger Scout was a bit heavy.

The MVP Flex looks like a nice light version for a .223 scout though.
