Springfield 03A3 30-06

Post by nords » 13 Nov 2013, 8:49 pm

I'm looking at adding a Springfield 03A3 in 30-06 to the collection.

I see ads for Lawrance Ordnance in Sydney who have rebuilt ones imported from the US.

I'm in WA so can't go look at one anyway.

Any Sydney shooters here been to them or bought from them?

Should I feel confident buying one from them unseen?

Cheers.

My brother lives in Sydney and was telling me he's looking at getting a Schmidt Rubin 1911 from them.

Got the thumbs up, he's just gotta get the cash together :D

I've got one of they KA-BAR USMC knives.

No rifles from them, but the quality of their knives is great. Some confidence there...

No personal experience, but a collector in our Club speaks highly of them, repeat customers are treated fairly.

If they're getting repeat business that's usually a good sign.

Simon at Lawrance spends a lot of time going through rifles and choosing the best ones that he is happy to sell.
His quality control is excellent and i have spent a lot of cash at his shop.
One of the few dealers I would have no worries buying sight unseen, he knows his rifles.
He of course will send you pics
Im looking at the Springfield snipers.
The US refurbish company doing these rifles are the absolute best too with outstanding quality (cant remember their name atm)

GPostal is right - an excellent firm, totally trustworthy. I heard from a shooter at the range yesterday about the Springfield he bought from them, he is delighted with its accuracy - around 1" - 1.5" at 100m.

Do people do any work on these to improve the accuracy? New bedding or trigger or whatever?

Or is that not in the spirit of the things I suppose?

I doubt that fiddling with it would improve much - and as far as Military Service competition goes, it would be "modified and accurised", and thus disqualified... A better idea is to experiment with different handloads, until you find the most accurate "recipe".
