How to find a new bolt?

Post by Brno.22 » 31 Aug 2016, 12:27 pm

Hi, I'm looking for a replacement bolt and mag for a Brno Model 2 .22LR. It is easy to source the mag however a new replacement bolt costs close to $500. Can I buy a 2nd hand rifle that is the same and replace the bolt or will I need the head space checked by a gunsmith?

The norinco is a copy. Perhaps look in that direction too.

Edit. Bloody auto correct.

Could you buyba second hand rifle to replace your missing bolt one? Otherwise id imagine you'd at the very least need to get the headspace and lug bearing surfaces fitted.

I've seen a few brno .22 bolts at gun shows and the like

Would have to get any replacement bolt checked and fitted I would have thought.

Buying a second rifle just for the bolt seems a bit strange; you'll just end up with another bolt less rifle and a mod2 will probably set you back the same $500 as a new bolt.

Good points all round however my Brno comes with a lot of history and sentimental value. I'll check some shows out.

I'd like a bolt for the cz 452 17hmr I inherited off my late best friend. Used guns did have one for $350 when I didn't have the cash, now I do supposedly they're nowhere to be found. I should try my local shop I guess. Also need a mag for it. Could nearly buy a new gun for all this will set me back ! :-) still wouldn't have it any other way

Ok......lets sort out a few little issues here.....

The original thread was sourcing a bolt for a Bruno.... What model 1,2,4 or 5.......trust me they are all so slightly different

Model 1 and model 2 are not inter changeable.

Norinco bolts will kinda sorta fit a model 2, not a model 1...... And even then a Local gun smith will have to play with it, the safety is totally different.

Norinco mags will fit a model 2, but not a 1 or 5.

Gun shows are the place to find a bolt if it's a number 2.... Good luck if it's a number one.

I'd try REBEL GUN WORKS at Woolloongagga (07 3391 6744) - they had a advert. for a heap of Model 1 parts or GOLD COAST SHOOTERS SUPPLIES at Ashmore (07 5597 3220) or USED GUNE....cheers.
