Newest Addition - S&W M69 Combat Magnum

Post by trumpychris » 31 Aug 2016, 4:14 pm

After waiting for about 5 months, my new baby arrived so I took it to church to get christened on Sunday. I am so very happy right now!

Dang man that's a handsome looking gun. It must be killing you having to wait until Sunday! Good call on the extra 500 bucks, that can go right towards the next toy im sure

Impressive revolver, but not nearly as impressive as what I read in the "about me" section at the bottom of the link.

You're obviously a true fighter and go getter.

There's plenty of room in the pro firearms world for genuinely motivated individuals like yourself.

Much respect.

I've a 6-shot Ruger Redhawk in 44 Magnum that sports a 5 1/2 inch barrel and a Taurus/Rossi 5-shot 44 Special with a 3 inch tube. Seems to me that your S&W M69 nicely bridges the gap.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

Nice revolver trumpychris. Bought a Model 29-4 recently with a bulged chamber in the cylinder for a very good price. Now to find someone who will ship to Australia, or at least to my FFL in San Francisco, and I will be speaking "44" again myself. Pity it's a 5 shooter, as my comp requires 6 rounds, might have to look at Field Pistol Metallic!

I did get it to the range last Sunday. It's a heap of fun.

I walked out of my LGS with 2 handguns that day. I never thought I'd ever do that. I'll write about the other gun sometime this week. It's a sweet little thing too.

Thanks for your kind words.

I'm just doing what I've got to do to make sure that I can pass my guns on to my children and then they can pass them on to their children. I don't do it to take credit or for personal gain. There is no glory in it that's for sure!

May as well! Any reason to buy another is a good one.

That Rossi would be a bit of a handful with hot loads. I'd like one of those pink charter arms revolvers in 44spl for the wife. I need to get her more involved.

That is a cool looking 'wheel gun'... the barrel length looks like a good compromise, a good mid point between the shorty and those 8+inch jobbies...that are just a PITA to hide in your pants :unknown:

The 5 chambers look huge, is that not the largest frame model?? (I'm not au fait with the current SW models)

Drop the pics into this thread (dont send us out of this little sparsely populated utopia for a visual fix)!!

edit to add: Got it... smaller frame

I'll take some pics of it beside its smaller brother when I get home. There are 2 frame sizes larger that the L. Model 29 and 629 .44mag are in the N frame, then it goes to the ridiculous X frame for the .460SWmag & .500SW. My brother in law is picking up a .460 soon. I think I will put one cylinder full through it just so I can say I have done it.

Shoot a box of the Hornady 200Gr factory ammo through the 460XVR, the recoil from your 44 will feel like a 22 in comparison :)

He is picking up 200 rounds of hornady with the gun. I'll see how it goes.
