What's on Santa's list?

There's a very pretty Lee-Enfield .303 at my LGS for sale.

I think Santa is due a letter :D

Since I'm probably not on his list anyway, I might as well ask for a Barrett MRAD.

Yes I believe so.

You'd be looking at ordering one in though, I wouldn't expect to just stroll into a store and find one on the shelf.

Savage Model 10/110 BA

Can be had for a bit over $1,700, which puts it in the achievable dream category. Just not likely this Christmas.

It just takes time.

Once you've got your license you'll forget you ever had to wait.

In Victoria the process for a long arms license is:

1) Apply for safety course - takes 2-4 weeks to get in.
2) Apply for license - Must wait 28 days before license is issued.
3) Apply for first rifle permit - Must wait 28 days before first permit is issued (but can be submitted with license to skip a bit)

After that permits can be done online and take 3-5 days usually for additional rifle permits.

In short though about 8-10 weeks on average to get your first rifle.

A bit longer in other states I believe and those without online permits take about 2 weeks to get them back for additional rifles.

Pistol licensing process in Victoria takes 9+ months.

Any reason given for the delay out of curiosity? Or just working hard to not give people their licenses I guess?
