Picked up my 243 T3 Lite today BFS. For a plastic stock it looks and feels pretty good for a weather proof hunting rifle.
It has a few minor marks on the scope but the gun is almost brand new. The recoil pad isn't great but its enough for a 243.

I picked up some Winchester 70gr HPBT. Will see how it shoots in the next week or so

Sounds good mate, the recoil pad should be fine, I don't fined it an issue with the 308 at all even off a bench so can't see it being an issue on the Pope.

This one of mine is shooting around 1.5" I guess with the factory ammo (Fed Premium 130gn HP) I've put through it (only tried the one band) and no doubt could get it shooting tighter with diff ammo or handloads but for now that's good enough to put holes in pigs.

The Popes fav Pigeon Gun - just enough oomph to knock em over. Yeah apparently the T3x has a slightly softer recoil pad, not that that would be a drama anyway with a 243 as they don't really kick that much, nor does the 308 for that matter, lighter projies are fine, heavier will result in more felt recoil of course but again no big deal in either of those cals.

Funny you mention that mate I was only thing today I will get some to try in it to see how they go.

What T3x has he got?

Cheers mate, not sure the Hunter version will shoot as well with the thin barrel - all I need is for it to be on the money with 1 shot and it should be good enough for that going by what I've seen from it so far.

it should shoot really good even with the thin barrel if not you can do handloads i use them 168gr zmax for range use because there cheap $215 for 500 of them and there boat tail aswell a little bit over kill for hunting but it will explode stuff haha keep us posted im in need of another tikka thats nice and light for hunting since the love affair with that howa im now turning it into a range gun

BFS, I have been busy with work so only just got a chance to zero in my 243 T3.

After 4 shots to sight in the next 3 shots were in a 22mm group at 100m.
That was with factory 70gr HP Winchester ammo, a warm barrel, some moderate wind... plus I think I pulled the last one a bit .

If i get another rifle the T3x will be near the top of the list

Good to hear Waldo, mines shooting around 1.2-1.5" with the ammo I'm shooting in it at the moment so not flash but usable on pigs etc but will just try a few diff brands or pull my finger out and make some loads up for it would be the correct thing to do I suppose.

Yeah get yourself some CCL Stock Conditioner - works well and you just put a little bit on your fingers and rub it in and let it dry then buff off, I've put probably 20 coats on now I guess (something like that anyway) and it's looking a lot better than when I first got it, slightly darker and brought out the grain etc more and seems quite scratch resistant too going by the lack of scratches etc after smashing through seftan bush and banging into trees etc, not a mark on it which was surprising.

Not a prob mate - I use it on all my oiled stocks now
