Tempted by a boyds stock

Post by sandgroperbill » 21 Jan 2017, 10:53 pm

So, for some reason I decided to randomly check the boyds website today, and lo and behold, they had a stock for one of my rifles for $77usd.

Ok. There are a few problems.
1) my rifle fits me perfectly in the synthetic stock and is very light
2)i'm not a fan of laminate
3)postage. Ouch. The postage costs the same as the stock itself.

But. It is still a cheap stock and is very tempting.

Think I may need to sleep on it.

LOL what rifle is it for? That's a cheap price for em at the moment, always worth checking out their specials, getting harder to buy them with their $$ restriction limit.

It's nutmeg laminate, so not one of the horrible colours, either.

I don't need it, but wonder if I'll kick myself one day for not grabbing it at that price. But that price still converts to a little over $200 delivered...

I've bought 2 over the years, and been happy with both. Postage might be a bit pricey but it'll be alot cheaper that anything you'll get in aus.

Cheap stock mate, I think they go for around $260 to well over $300 here now depending on what its for. I've got an uninletted one sitting here which cost me around $40 from memory plus a few $$ for shipping and I have around 6 rifles with Boyds Stocks on em - most cost me around $130 delivered so way out in front $$ wise.

I can't see them getting cheaper so get on em whilst you can I say. :drinks:

When I buy scopes etc from the States, I usually ask around to see if anyone else needs one. Then we split the postage.

I'd be in the market for one, except the one I want is $108 and they won't knock a lousy $8.01 Off the price to sell it to me!

Little confused. So if it is under a $100us Boyds will ship? What's the shipping from us to Australia roughly for a stock?

Just found my invoices from 2 stocks,
1. Nutmeg thumbhole $99 +$49 USD = $189 AUD 5 years ago
2 Pro Varmint $99 +$49 USD = $238 AUD 2 years ago.
Seems the USD to AUD exchange rate changes things a bit.
Both bought before the price rise.

Its the shipping cost that has me reconsidering. $75 basically doubles the cost of the stock from just over $100aud to just over $200aud

Bit of a moot subject in the end. When I went to pay it refuses to process. Something about quantity resetting to zero, so guessing they had already sold out or something.

He who hesitates mate! never mind there will be more sales I'm sure but it does p me off that we can't buy them easily anymore, maybe with Trump in they might be able to remove that stupid limit and we can get back to buying stuff we want when we want again, bloody hope so! :drinks:

Next time it comes up on special it might just be a nice timber rather than laminate.

No bigee. As I said earlier, the current stock fits me perfectly and is nice and light. I was just looking to buy my girl a new dress, but wasn't to be.
