Long Wish List and No Cash

Post by Gwion » 08 Feb 2017, 6:38 am

Having a big mortgage and very modest income is painfully at the best of times but when it comes to filling the firearm wish list its torture!!!

My bro is hitting the half ton shortly and I'm heading interstate for a couple of weeks. A couple of mates have moved to NSW Hunter/Barrinton area and I was thinking of cruising up from Vic and dropping in on each of them. One is keen to get into some goats or pigs or red deer but my 223 would be a little light on and my 7-08 is more a heavy varmint/target rig than something you want to traips around the hills with.
Now would be a perfect time to get that Sako left hand hunter 7-08 Ive been wanting for a good while now....
And a Lithgow right hand 22lr for prone practice,
And that Barnard/Truflite/GRS in 284shehane,
And Finnish my 223McShort project,
And get one of those Henry leaver 410,
And a nice 12g,
A new safe,
Updated reloading gear,
Maybe a Lithgow left hand 223 for heavier bullets,
Some nice quality glass for all the new rifles........

Oh... The PAIN!

I'm broke, too. I was terribly ill most of last year and had a couple issues in the second half of 2015 as well. I had so much and it is all gone. Not only to pay my own bills but I still have projects I put tens of thousands of dollars into and have not collected because I couldn't get them done. I'll be back. Good news is I still have my guns, ammo, roof and wheels :)

Yeah, i know.... we've still got it pretty good!

Very generous offer, mate! I might take you up on it. Depends how my cash flow goes and if i can make it up to NSW or just stick around Vic and go fishing. Haven't been fishing in NE Vic for years, anyway.

Keen to head up to Barrington Tops. Never got into the goats and pigs before. Will be entirely cash dependent. If March goes well, i'll be going!

You mates and your .303s :D

I like my buddy's Enfield a lot. But this is a big difference between Aussies and Yanks. As people who were not Commonwealth members .303s are just not popular around here and you don't hear us talking about them all the time. We are more likely to talk about Soviet calibers for some reason :D

303 is to us like 30-06 to you yanks.

It's almost a pre requisite to have one in the safe! Lol

Gwion, you're more than welcome to call in here at the "Ranch" if you want mate. Plenty of "bang sticks" to choose from. Small furry animal disturbance can be arranged.

One day in the future you'll look in the safe and there'll be a .303 and you'll not remember having purchased one but you will come over all warm and fuzzy knowing you have one :)
I've got 1 in my safe at the moment, it's not mine and I'm returning it to the owner this weekend, I'll be sorry to see it go and may have to just go buy one to fill the void and restore that warm and fuzzy feeling.

You have a point!

Will be glad when this landscaping work is done and the brewery is ticking over. Might be able to scrape together a little spare cash then! At the moment we're flying by the seat of our pants.....

Just realised I can get a Lithgow CF and rebarrel it in 7-08 for significantly less that a Sako hunter....
Too bad they are only doing BlackMountain barrels in 223, 243 & 308....

Yeah, that part of you bombing the living crap out of Japan, invading all their islands, and sinking their fleet was great!

Make no mistake, America will always be grateful for Australia, both past and present. Your military has supported liberation for at least 100 years. That's as far back as our history books go, it's like a law or something ;)

That's right...

We saved your guys from certain defeat (you know, the ones with the big boats...), then smuggled McArthur back home, at which point he said, "i think we need more boats, guns and a big bomb!"

When I am King we will bomb you. But they will be Freedom bombs, not hate bombs. We will bomb until you are ready to submit to delivery of .30-06 and AR-15 airdrops :)

Then we will force you to import s**ty beer :) But we will send cheap ammo.
