WW2 M1Carbine mags and pouch.

Post by Elmer » 15 Feb 2017, 7:09 pm

Hi fellas,
Ive got 5 WW2 M1carbine mags (at least I think they are WW2 vintage) here with a WW2 ammo pouch, on the front of the pouch it says US and on the back J.Q.M.D 1942.
Each mag has only two letters punched into it U1, KI OR 1, RUGG, RUGG these letters are on the rear spine of the mag, the longest mag (I assume 30rd) has M2 on the rear spine.
Does anyone know if the mags and pouch are genuine WW2 vintage and if so , how much do you think they would be worth?
cheers,
Sean

Can't really tell you much except that the 30-rd mag is not M1. It's M2 and probably Korean War vintage.

Back in the day every man and his dog were churning out carbines....U1 and K1 are General Motors...RUGG = Rugg Mfg. Co

M1 and M2 (and M3?) were produced for the WW2....I'd be guessing to say they were ALL made in the 40's..... then used for Korea and other conflicts....

What are they worth?? Million dollar question.... as much or as little as someone would pay...

I happen to have a home for wayward M-1 Carbine accessories...
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

I might be mistaken, but I tend to recall something about either the select-fire, non-sporting or possibly military re-import nature??

Not on a national level, some asinine states have restrictions on magazine capacity however, here in Oklahoma you can have as many rounds in the mag as it can carry.

The only thing I remember reading about M2/3s and the 30 round mags were that they M2/3 had a beefier magazine release than the m1. I am also lead to believe that the m1 carb had its mag release beefed up when going through arsenal refit/rebuild.

Go to Sarco or Ohio Ordinance Works and search "kits." We can bring in everything. If the FRAME is foreign made, and not considered sporting purpose, a certain number of parts need to be replaced with American parts to assemble a complete weapon. This is problematic with a small handful of firearms that nobody makes parts for here.

But the times they are a changing :)

Mags? Fughetaboutit. No problemo, capiche?

Thanks Gents for your replies.....I found out that the 15 rd mags are all genuine WW2 as with the pouch but the 30rd mag is a cheap repro made in Asia.
