Combination guns with magazines

Post by keen » 30 Nov 2013, 1:20 pm

Hi guys,

I've done a bit of Googleing with no luck on this...

Do they do any combination guns with magazines?

Something like a regular bolt action with a single shot shotgun barrel or something?

Not that I've ever seen.

Only two/three barrel combos.

Too much bang for these old shoulders.

3x 12 gauge rounds in a row would probably put me on my ass these days

A break open barrel for different cartridges is nice and simply obvioulsy.

It would be too awkward/clunky mechanically to do a magazine fed rifle with a single feed shotgun or whatever as well I would think?

I don't know about that, bolt action on the bottom, single shot 12 gauge/.410 on the top. Not particularly complicated, would not be a light rifle though.
Or you could go the same route that was taken with the LeMat revolver but make it into a revolver rifle.
The most extreme option is just an a-typical assault rifle with a masterkey, not uncommon, but substantially more difficult for us.

Yeah, not saying it would be impossible... I just can't picture it having very good handling.

If you'e got a 1 piece bolt action on the bottom, you obviously can't have a break open on the top, so two bolt mechanisms?

I'm just imagining that it would be heavy (like you said) and awkward, where as a two/three barrel break open can easily be made light and sleek.

Take a page from Sigourney Weaver's book in Aliens.

2 guns, roll of duct tape, combination rifle finished :D

The old assault rifle / grenade launcher / flame thrower combo.

Just what every deer hunter needs.

Yeah, I can see it coming in two types; heavy and extremely front heavy or exceedingly heavy.
Either two straight pull mechanisms, or the shotgun could be a break action, but slide forward, like the M203 40mm launcher.
Downside for the latter would be the barrel alignment, also I would be worried about structural integrity, if it was a 12 gauge.
