I believe they were Mausers converted by Columbia to accept 30.06, that was supplied by the US at the time. That's what I gathered from my very brief research. Someone with more knowledge will probably chime in soon.

G'day Stirlo,
FAMAGE = Reformado Fabrica de Materials de Guerra, a Colombian Arsenal in Bogota where these formerly 7x57mm Mausers were converted from 1951 onwards to 30-06 after the US began supplying arms and ammo to Colombia. They converted Czech Vz23 +Vz24, Belgian FN24 + FN30, Steyr Solothurn M1929. A number of Belgian FN Model 1950 chambered in 30-06 from the factory were also imported. These may be found as long rifle, short rifle, carbine and a very short Police Carbine. Shooting the Police Carbine in 30-06 is an experiance, especially at night!! Cheers.

I've got a Belgian Mauser M1950, factory chambered in 30-06. Very similar to the Columbian Mauser. In pretty good condition and shoots like stink. Will probably need a taller front sight (easy to get) as they tend to shoot pretty high when stock. Great rifles.

G'day supaduke,
Any crest? I have an FN 1950 with the Belgian Congo crest issued to the Forces Publique just before they rebelled.

You can just make out the remnants of the ABL crest, but for whatever reason it was partially scrubbed.

They are very cool rifles! Chargers clips do NOT help conserve ammo!
If any one knows the whereabouts of an FN Mauser full wood stock please let me know as mine had been butchered down before I got it and I'd like to replace it. I have a matching serial number bayonet for mine.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Hi, I have an R. Famage 1952. Has been in Australia for a long time, Maybe since the 60s ?
Bought her about 1986. Was used for Buffalo, Pig and Brumbies in the Northern Territory.
Serial # is 03xxx. Breach stamped with symbol and BNP, also .30.
Barrel in front of wood stamped with the same symbol and BNP as the breech.
Also stamped is 30/06, 2.494", (maybe should be 24.94") and 18 tons per <>" (square inch)
Hope this is of some interest. Stan.

I have shot the very short Police Carbine. Basically a 30/06 with a 16" barrel. Seriously wtf were they thinking?

Noisydad,

Any chance you still have your butchered famage stock?
