Thanks for that assessment...it's hard to tell from the site pics, and the new model looks more beefy and suited to the bench.
Wish manufacturers would put dimensions up... but i guess they want to avoid 'copies' as much as possible.. :silent:

After further consideration, i am relinquishing the idea of this platform....either too hard or too $$$$ so off to plan B.

I will leave this open in case future options become available.

Now i just need to find a new home for my .300RUM + Ammo......

Any takers?

Cheers

bladeracer... It;s an SPS, and i'm cautious to go any further as it may appear i am advertising, which not being a Lic dealer, would be breaking the Vic laws :o  ....but i'm sure genuinely interested parties could find a way to get in touch... ;) :P

sungazer... i prefer the more 'modular' style as i already have two timber/laminate stocks and after a different look. Thanks for the suggestion though. :drinks:

*EDIT*... meant for Gwion, not me. :silent:

I'm happy enough to keep shooting the Zasty as a 223rem for the time being. It got me into 3rd for our ANZAC shoot and convincingly achieved tightest group for the day (10 rounds, single feed, within 2 mins at 300yds). Still, I am looking forward to some spare cash to finish the 223mcshort. Also trying to save for a GRS stock for my 7mm08.

Have you tried a GRS Stock? The Grip is at a bit of an angle. It didn't bother me but a lot of people either or love them or hate them. I gave them a miss on the model I was looking at for other fitment reasons. A Stock can get really personal ;)

I haven't tried one as yet but a guy at the club is getting one soon. The angle pistol grip is actually part of the attraction, it seems to make a lot of sense ergonomically. It you saw the stock on my rifle now, you would understand why I want a new one so badly!

Thanks again, i was trying to get a mental image of what bbl i can use, and it seems i can go as short as 20" and still be legal when folded. ;)

18" is probably doable - the adapter that screws into the back of the chassis can be backed out 5mm with a simple spacer. Or get a 22" rifle and lop a bit off the front.

I thought the legislation required a minimum bbl length of 19.6"?...or is it that a bbl can be any length as long as the rifle remains @ 75cm?

The base model i'm building this off only goes down to 20" and i think that's what the reg's are built around?....i'm not after m16 shorty bbl but like the idea of short fat irons....

16" is legal if the rifle comes that short. I don't think you can legally shorten a barrel less to than 500mm, but I'd have to check the legislation to be certain.

Ruger American Ranch Rifles have 16.12" barrels.

Gawd,..you must be doing a night shift at this hour lol.

Your on the money...50cm is the minimum for a 'shortened' original bbl,...the rifle comes in a 20" HB profile and nothing shorter. Were it on a conventional stock, the 1:8/1:7 could do being 22" i imagine for a clean burn and stable assist.

The 20" is a 1:9...

For those having mag & OAL issues, i just found this site (old for many here im sure)...http://www.aihpa.com/Sponsor/Tikka_T3_M ... ptions.htm

Not sure at this time if he only does Tikka mags (awaiting email response) but i thought it was worth posting even if just for the Tikka owners who aren't aware....I also hear Wyatt also do an o/s internal mag as well....
