Pistol grip prohibition ?

Post by colinbentley » 05 May 2017, 4:37 pm

i may be wrong but did I hear that rifles with pistol grips are prohibited in Australia ? If it is true I cannot understand the logic. A rifle is a rifle is a rifle is a rifle whether it has a true "pistol grip" or just the normal , what we refer to as the pistol grip.

ACT is a bit weird with them though.

They definitely keep trying, they'll use any crazy idea they can think of to make all firearms illegal.

Are you sure about that?
I'm sure I've seen people with MDT chassis in WA.

G'day bladeracer,
Our Club Secretary was forbidden from taking his Colt 2012 to Perth last December for the CSD Nationals on the basis it was "Military appearance due to the pistol grip".WAPOL were ok if he removed the grip! Beatons Firearms have posted info on WA shooters having pistol grip stocks confiscated by WAPOL, and the Savage BA10 is prohibited for Cat B users, due to the pistol grip, Cheers.

I think if you go back in history even here in Vic they were outlawed at one stage from memory it was about that 96 era of ban it. Thumbhole stocks may of even come out as an Alternative just me speculating there.

Ironic that W.A. Is one of the most sparsely populated areas on earth, yet has the most restrictive gun laws in Australia. Yet Victoria being probably the most densely populated has arguably the best. Good onya 'stralia

(Feel free to make jokes about Victorians being dense ;) )
