Detachable Mag kit for Winchester Model 70?

Post by TBJ » 21 May 2017, 10:07 pm

Hi,
I am currently deliberating on a new deer rifle for Sambar, probably in .308, and currently one of the two is a Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather Stainless, but unlike the Remington 700, I cant find much about a detachable magazine kit for the Model 70? I am just wondering who makes them which one are the best and where can I get them?
thanks
Jez

Hi Jezza,
My Sambar rifle is a M70 Extreme Weather in 300wsm. Best Rifle I've had to date. Mine was made in Utah, but I hear the Portuguese models are same if not better in quality. Super smooth bolt, controlled feed, good recoil pad, excellent trigger, mine at about 3lb no creep etc. Off the bench consistent groups (3shot) under 1" with barnes vor-tx ttsx 165gn. You will need to let the barrel cool after 2-3 shots. Not sure about the remmys I have never owned one but a mate has a xcr 11 30-06 and he likes it. Shoulder them both and pick the one that fits best

CDI in the US may be your best bet, or perhaps AtlasWorx in WA, he may be able to make one for the model 70. https://www.atlasworxs.com/collections/frontpage
