Hey, chill out boys and girls! Don't get me wrong, the 222Rem was a great cartridge. It was the go to round for many Pro. roos shooters and I culled many roos and foxes with it in Western NSW too. So was the 222Rem Mag BUT along came the 223. :D
To buy, 222 brass is dearer than 223, at least around this area.

Yeah they were a great little roo cartridge alright, goes well on foxes too and great fun on wabbits but I do prefer the 204 over the 222 and 223 - it's just a lazer beam and drops with great bang flop moments.

Haven't had anything to do with this new fangled 204 bigfellascott, but hear it shoots as flat as a billiard table.

When fox skins were worth a shilling or two a mate of mine used a 17 Rem Mag, went off like a 25 pounder, the fox was dead before ya pulled the trigger, unless the little pill hit a blade of grass or a bush moth in the spotlight and poof! But what happened to it?

Just love progress...

Yeah if fox skins were worth anything I would definitely be running a 17rem, the 204 can be hard on skins depending on the projie you run in em.

All I can say is the 204 is a great little cal for reaching way out yonder because of the flat trajectory.

Traditionally, yes but I believe modern 222 are often barrelled with a 1:12 twist.

My Ruger is 1.14 with a 22 inch barrel and I ran it in with 60 rds of 50gr factory ballistic tips. The first ammo I made for it were 52 gr target bullets and they were very accurate however sometimes they would drop the roo but it would get up as the bullet was going through the nasal cavity. Now I load 50gr PSP Remington and they blow up real good.I believe that when the 223 was developed for the Military there was a requirement to push heavier pills so a faster twist rate would be needed.
