New Gunshop in Eastern Melbourne

Just chanced upon a new shop out East, Inside a TJM 4wd gear shop on Canterbury Rd Kilsyth signage isn't that obvious, it would be easy to miss.
Friendly staff, only been open a week or so- still stocking up.Prices were good on what was there. I bought a secondhand Adler at a good price

Interesting. I wonder if they're trying to supplement income.
It's not like another one is needed in the area with gun shops in Boronia, Bayswater, Ringwood, Lilydale already.

It's a TJM store, not a gunshop.
Try thinking sometimes fella.
Do you even know how close in proximity it is to the other gun shops I listed?
I actually live here within the handful of kilometres between them

Adding more competition here might be enough to put one or two to the wall.

I think they are going for more upmarket stuff, they had some very nice rifles and only the one s**ty Adler. As for East Melbourne shops I like Bayswater, but I get along with the owner, I understand others dont.
I think the TJM outlet may be subletting to the Gunshop (Which is towards the back) but I see that as a good thing - its normalizing firearms to a degree.

I agree Melbourne definitely needs more stores, it can never be a bad thing for consumers. I went into two today, first one was great, the second one I copped comments along the line that the ammunition I was buying was expensive (it's middle of range) in a derogatory tone and tried second guessing me... Yes, I know... My gun is sighted on this ammo, I buy one pack a year, and I like it. Would you like me to buy something else? Was quite irritating and I probably won't go back. I wish it was easier to purchase supplies such as ammo online, I'd probably pay extra just to avoid an experience like today.

As a kid, I'd go to K-Mart and check out the air rifles on the back wall.

Couple of years ago, I was speaking with the local DFO about the same thing. How K-Mart used to sell guns.
He'd said that isn't it a good thing they don't do that now.
Disagreed. It doesn't matter who sells them, as long as they're (these days) licensed to sell them and stock is secure. It's just a product like everything else.

Called in to see them an hour or so ago. Drayzen (spelling?) is the guy behind the counter, seems knowledgeable and friendly. Good prices on the ammo I asked about, and some accessories in store at very good prices too. He had an Accuracy International "something" in 300WM hanging there, as well as a few other very nice looking bits of gear. Ruger American's in stock too.
Currently:
Weatherby VG S2 in .223 in Boyds Thumbhole, Leupold VX3 3.5-10x50
Sako Finnfire Hunter .22, Leupold Vari-X II 3-9x40 (my old .22 bought back)

Hi All

Reading this has encouraged me to make my first post :D

I still remember drooling over a rifle MYERS in doncaster shoppingtown had on display.. A 99 dollar Jager 22 semi auto. It was 1980.

I had my dads single shot lithgow at the time :)

A house in Bulleen cost 40K. 3 years later I was getting 80 bucks a week pay as an apprentice..

At $2.35 a box in the 80s, 22 ammo has not gone up too much :D

Are you going to tell us which dealer to avoid?
With an expanding choice of where to buy, you'd think they'd be friendlier.

I drove past there the other day, just spotted it as a fluke out of the corner of my eye.

The gun shop industry here does seem really crap at advertising itself I gotta say.

Try finding Central Vic Bang Sticks when all you have is the name of the Town, luckily the Publican knew where they are
