Hard to say. What range are those groups shot at?
Maybe try 3x5 each of 2nd from left top and 3rdfrom left bottom (on my phone hard to read charge weights).

the best factory ammo 5 shot(indoor 50 meters), S&B ammo is good but different batch performs different, the plastic divider in the ammo box white color batch is much better than the green color ones

TB load, 10.0---9.6---9.2---8.8---8.4--8.1, at max load it spreads a lot, getting better at 8.1, seems nearly there, next time try 7.9---7.7---7.5 each 5 shot to find out, the good thing is POI didn't change too much compares to factory ammo

Cheers Mk3 its worked. The Howa Mini is ready for pickup tomorrow. :drinks:

Trail Boss test

7.9gr, 7.7 gr and 7.5 gr

seems 7.7 is good but got one fly and it's far away from the main group cluster  next time will try 10 x to find out if it's the best

Nice SHV - remember TB isn't renowned for it's pinpoint accuracy. It's advantage comes from its economy and less wear-and-tear on your rifle.
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

Not sure what primers are used in that cartridge but I definitely found that using Small Rifle MAGNUM primers for Trail Boss in my 223 improved consistent velocity as well as precision and group size. In fact, I literally just finished priming 50 cases with SRM primers for a fresh batch of TB 223rem.

is there large rifle magnum primer you can buy for LGS? also do you need to enlarge the hole on the case?

No you don't have to enlarge anything. A quick web search will tell you what primers are available.

Next step is to try and send some lead through her - do you know if she'll stabilize a 180gr?

the magnum primer doesn't help on accuracy, also 3 of 15 didn't fire  will try it on Sako A7 and tikka battue, maybe is the CZ doesn't strike big and hard enough on the primer

Huh.... Interesting! Was worth trying out, I guess. Definitely made a difference in 223 with TB but that is small rifle magnum primers.
Sorry for the bum steer but still, now you have tried it and know the result.

maybe the 7.62x39 case is short so there isn't much difference, 5.56 and 308 case are much longer so it makes lot difference... will try 10 gr TB subsonic 308 next time

tried TB 10 gr "subsonic" 308, the CCI magnum primer looks much better than the normal big rifle primer  and I am lucky 10 gr TB charge looks good, may no need to try other different charges

For the life of me can’t work out why 303 /311 projectiles are so expensive and in limited weights. The prices almost make you vomit. I have a Howa 7.62x39 varmint and would love to do some experiments with loads but the projectiles are too expensive. I don’t know why no one has sourced someone who is prepared to drop the price. Let’s face it there not made out of gold

If you have the time, I highly recommend casting your own. ITs a bit to set up, but much much cheaper in the end (if you discount the time spent as job satisfaction;)

Or you could buy the 1000 pack for $129 and get better velocities, not to mention save yourself a huge amount of effort... just sayin. Plated bullets are also more accurate in my experience.

As I am Sure you already know, the 7.62x39 is vastly different in ballistics and purpose to that of .270, and 300WM. Is that not justification enough in WA mate?
That was a genuine question too mate, not having a go. I know you blokes have it tough over there in WA justifying ownership but if they can’t see the difference then they are A-Grade faaarkwits.

By the way, the CZ527 in this chambering is an awesome bit of kit. I don’t personally own one however I have had the opportunity to use one on several occasions and for what it’s worth I rate it.
