Good price for a Brno .222?

Post by Daddybang » 04 Jul 2017, 7:19 am

While I was in the lgs on the weekend my missus was looking for a rifle she shouldered several different makes and models and fell in love with a brno .222. The rifle is in good to very good condition. A little battered looks wise a couple of dings in the stock and the bluein is a bit faded but the action is smooth and the rifling is very crisp and pit free. Is 550 a fair price for the rifle?Comes with mounts and rings . Thanks in advance for any advice I know jack sh@t about brnos.

Sounds fair. You often see BRNO Fox 2's around $1K but bare in mind a new CZ cost just a bit more than $1K.

Make sure the BRNO's mag is there and functional

You even had good luck on the timber. Wish I'd seen it at that price. A bargain.

Yes, paid $450 for mine in similar condition, probably a little worse, make sure it has the mag and never lose it!

Edit: should have read thread, gorgeous stock on that, what year is it manufactured?

My new old 67 model 2 is marked BRNO zbrojovka meaning it was manufactured by BRNO in Zbrojovka, not in Brno (city), I don't know much else about the transition to CZ except that the factory moved to Zbrojovka around then.

Is the proofing year stamped on the barrel and action like on a Model 2 ?

CZ is the standard brand and they now use Brno brand for their fancy schmancy rifles; top of the line safari guns and such. So a CZ isn't a Brno, even if they are similar to the old standard Brno.

Some pedantic comments.
Zbrojovka is the Czech word for Arms in general or in this instance firearm, it's not a place name.
Brno as well as being a place name was used as a brand name for various products, not just firearms.
CZ are the initials of Ceska Zbrojovka which translates as Czech Arms.
That is how we can get a Ceska Zbrojovka Brno branded rifle.
All make sense now?
