Howa 1500 built in mag loading problems

Post by JLM500 » 09 Jul 2017, 4:30 pm

Hey all,

I bought a Howa 1500 in 22-250, and the problem I have is that the bolt comes back just a few mm too far, and when you go to top load the shells, you pretty much always have it pointing up in the air, and the cartridge sits on a ledge at the back of the magazine, so it won't push down until you slide it forward a little. It's bloody annoying as it slows the process down a lot! Is there a simple modification to make the bolt come back a few mm less?, or is that ledge at the back of the magazine to do with the ejection of the empty cartridge?

Cheers
