Yeah nothing to stripping them. Some like my mod70 are a pain in the a@# to screw up if you undo them with the safety in the wrong position.

They were all different but I am glad they are all clean and lubed with white lithium grease

Take care with the lube. I've seen more "clean" bolts with issues than dirty ones

Dismantle, clean and oil them when I first buy them.
Then just whipe clean. Drop of light oil down the firing pin hole maybe once a year. Dab of grease behind the lugs ocassionaly. And never grease the internals.

The .222 Ruger had sand in it the other 2 were clean as I used to keep them in a tin with diesel up north as the fine red dust gets in everything.I read about safari guides doing it in Africa as they have a similar problem

Mmmmm.... Good to give them a soak. But I would use diesel. It's a very light oil.

Sako actually supply the tool needed to disassemble their bolts which I assume is used as an aid to cleaning the internals. I personally strip and clean bolts at least every 4th or 5th cleaning just to remove any crud that may build up inside and to inspect for wear. A few drops of light oil on the spring and a wipe down with a patch with a few drops of oil on it on the inside. I also apply a very small amount of grease to the thrust faces of the bolt lugs to prevent wear but if out in the bush with a lot of sand and dust I'll wipe the bolt and receiver dry.
How's my posting?
