7615 vs 7600 Pricing

Post by Ben78 » 13 Aug 2017, 11:44 am

Been thinking of getting one of these, I've used one and enjoyed the plinking aspect as well as the mob of goats/pigs handling capability.

I went to my local and priced the 7615 223 at $1930 and then he said that the 243 is cheaper, "How much cheaper" - his response was "$600 cheaper" and then that you also get a 22" barrel.

Anyone actually know what I am getting *extra* by going to the 7615? I already have a 223 pmag that I know would fit it, and ammo can be had much cheaper than the 08 and 06 based cartridge options.

Cheers

I'm no expert but i believe the two actions are different in construction or how they work, besides the fact that there different calibers. I'm sure there's a few owners on here.

Last time I looked the 7615 only came chambered in .223.

The 7600 comes chambered in a number of 'large primer' centrefire cartridges. .30-06, 270, 308 etc.

So a few tweak around that because of the higher power cartridges, but otherwise they are the same action, trigger etc.

I reckon it's probably an economy of scale thing, they're building a ****** of units for the larger centrefire stuff so can do it cheaper.

When they have to built relatively fewer in the .223 it becomes less economical so is more expensive per unit.

7615 has a different mag well to accept AR/Pmag magazines. Also comes with fancier sights.

7615 and 7600P come with Wilson combat ghost ring sights, which combined with the ar15 mag well adds greatly to the cost according to Raytrade. Apparently later in the year there will be a lower cost 223 option. I think I'm going to go 308 and a brake at this stage though.

I seriously doubt that. Prices are dictated by demand and 223 is very popular. Probably one of the highest production clamberings in the US. They will be asking as much as the customers will be prepared to pay.

when thev7615 come out here in the u.s it was more for the police at the time the a.r. rifles were realy a lot money and becouse many police here already had the 870 shot gun it was a form they would no well.
now the federal goverment gives the the a.r ifle and other surplus arms to them they no longer buy 7615 i do no some police that like the 7615 and still carry them in there cars but that tends to be older guys.
like most things here for police they tend to be over built they had larger safty buttons for gloves ghost ring sight like a lot of 870 a.r typ mag wells 16 inch barres and hogue stocks if you got a standard 7600 it would never matter.

7615 were originally bought out to be in comparison and usable with the AR and use the same mags, this is why they are in short action calibres.
To be honest the popularity is the only reason they are so expensive.
Liked the 7600 myself. :D

My 7600 patrol is unreal in thick scrub with 130gr Speer hollow points on pigs.
Put a pistol grip on and enjoy but the 308 can be a bit barky with 16inch barrel... 223 would be a sweetheart I would think...

All depends if you want a 223 or larger caliber? I have a 7615, is nice walking through scrub with the 16" barrel. BTW 16" is loud even in 223

Regarding extra mags... Magpul pmags cost about $35 VS about $140 for lucky 13 Unimag for the 7600.
Saying that i'm considering a 7600 as well.. because why not both?

7615 is very tacticool when someone brings an old car to the farm. Load up the 30 round mags and waste a load of ammo. Pistol grip and pump action is pretty fun.
