A battered old original Omark may not be the bargain you think it may be.
One suitable for a beginner with some semblance of competitiveness in F class is going to cost a lot more.
These are the issues you may have to deal with in an original Omark of any vintage.
Barrel adaptor
Replacement barrel
Replacement stock
Drill and tap action for scope mount
Correctly mounting a 20moa rail - the adaptor is usually proud of the action and the rail bends when fitted up tightly turning a 20moa rail into a zero or worse rail and stressing the scope tube in the process. This is particularly noticeable with alloy rails.
Ignition issues
Extraction issues
Bolt head retainer
Now tally up the cost of resolving some or all of those issues and your bargain Omark won't be the bargain you thought it was.
After spending all that money and in the event you want to sell and you ask a realistic price you will be hit with 'but it's only an Omark'.
On the other hand a $250 original Omark will still shoot quit well with a 'seen better days' barrel with suitable factory ammunition
