Left handed varmint 243 (or 22-250)

Post by slickncghia » 31 Aug 2017, 4:50 pm

I am in the market for a 243 for use as a multi purpose fox rifle that can strech up to roo/goat/pig

its to fit between a 22lr and 30-06 sambar rifle.

I am looking for something with a little bit more oomph and legs than 223 for a bit longer mpbr.

I am a lefty. my other 2 rifles are lefties I would love to keep it that way... or should i give up and just buy a howa in RH?.

Does anyone know any other left handed heavy varmint barrelled rifles than the Rem 700 and tikka ?

They are both around the 1500+ range and would love something a bit more affoardable

Ruger American is left-handed. I would've suggested the .243 Predator for the heavier barrel but they only list 6.5 Creedmoor in LH. The Std blued and Compact All-Weather is LH though.

Thanks for the reply. I've actually got a Ruger american in 30-06

its a great rifle for carrying as its super light but its spaghetti thin barrel heats up FAST and I'm looking for something with a thicker barrel/heavier stock.

I looked at the predator which has a slightly thicker barell but still seems rather sporterish and I didn't think ruger
made this version available in Left handed yet. so If its in 6.5 thats a start!

thanks and please keep the suggestions coming

You can buy an action and get it barrelled. You can put together a good rifle for around $1600 or so.

I already have the .243 Predator but I want to get the 6.mm Creedmoor Predator as well.
The .243 Predator barrel is 0.73" at the muzzle (and is threaded) compared to the unthreaded Standard 7mm-08 barrel at 0.58" (unthreaded). The .204 Predator is 0.65", which I believe is the same as the .223 Predator.

Yep, but mine and my brother's .243's are both Predators with the heavier barrel.
My 7mm-08 with the light barrel groups sub-MoA at 100m with the 100gn bullet (I don't think I've shot better than 0.7MoA with it yet), and only very slightly worse with 145 and 160gn HotCore bullets (I haven't put as much effort into building a sub-MoA load with the heavier bullets though). 145gn HotCore Trailboss loads at 1500fps group around 1.5MoA at 100m. The most full-power loads I've put through it in a single session was 35rds during load development.
