Quickest PTA ever?

Post by jmr22 » 06 Oct 2017, 9:35 pm

I put in for a cat A PTA on Wednesday afternoon around 2:30pm, got a call at 3:30PM today (Friday) from old mate at the shop, your PTA is on the fax, come pick your shottie up. I've certainly never had anything come back that quick...

In VIC, at my local, they do an electronic PTA. The last couple have been done within 24hrs.

LOL if it's during a week day, about 15, 20 30 minutes, something like that. Longest I waited was 40 minutes. Unless it's on Friday afternoon or Saturday, it's the same day pickup :)

My LGS in northern Vic says he had one back in 3 minutes. He says mondays and Tuesdays are slower due to the system having to catch up on Saturday applications.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Got that beat :-)
Went into a shop on Monday morning as soon as he opened the door and bought my M91/30 Mosin. PtA was cleared in five minutes. I think it pays to get in early :-)

Well they have been saying they are trying to streamline things.

Maybe this is proof.

It's not gonna cost you to simply ring the boys at WLB and say "Thanks,, much appreciated"

They are working in a largely thankless job after all.

You lucky devils. Here in SA we are still on the paper system, fill it in, mail it in, wait, wait, wait, then they mail it back out. A quick check of the website says they are currently processing PTA received on the 22nd August.

Yeah the PTA's rarely take too long here in Vic, last time I put one in, I went out for lunch around the corner and when I returned to the gun shop everything was ready to be picked up.

Well here in ACT it's 28 days - no less, no more.

In WA, when I was there, it's anything up to 6 weeks, or whatever they feel like ....

Good on you.

I suppose things may have changed since 2012 when I was living there.

Or the LGS says "just sign it here and we'll send it off"
4 weeks later you chase up it's progress and find tou that the FA Branch have only just received it... thanks LGS , I'll be posting it myself from now on.

Yep, SA snail mail.

Having said that, the other day I rang up asking to check the progress on my PTA, and the lady who I was talking to said mine would be going out next week. I told her that AusPost had lost my last PTA and asked if I could pick it up when it was ready, so she just said hold on and I'll fill it in now and you can collect it today!

That got me two PTAs which I had been waiting on. While I was very grateful for the service, it is frustrating that it can take 6+ weeks of waiting, or one friendly phone call to get it sorted then and there!

I'm not surprised that they get lost in the mail. The last thing I was sent from the Firearms Branch was sent to me in a unsealed envelope.
Some how my licence renewal paperwork managed to stay inside.
The person who licks the envelopes must have been away that day.
