In my case I lately I just grab a few targets, some tape , a few boxes of ammo and my ear muffs. And of course the rifle or pistol of the day and some speed loaders and magazines.
So what do you take?
I've never been to a range so I'm not sure what would be required.
But I have an aluminium briefcase from Bunnings that I take up the paddock with me when I'm shooting.
Spotting scope and tripod (also fits the chrono).
Electronic ear muffs (with a belt hook).
Ear plugs.
Ear plugs on a neck ring.
A bag of disposable ear plugs (in case anybody is with me).
Laser rangefinder.
Chronograph (a big tripod stays up the paddock)
Wind Speed Meter.
A four-colour retractable pen.
A drift for sight adjustment.
Some 3" nails and 40mm clouts for target repairs.
Small hammer (for above).
Allen keys for scope mounts.
Four boxes of different colour/size adhesive dots for patching or aiming at.
Five rolls of different colour insulation tape for putting up targets, patching and aiming at.
A pair of scissors.
A three-foot square of material to catch brass.
A couple dozen small bulldog clips (for brass screen).
An A5 clipboard and paper for noting chrono figures, holdovers and such.
A strap-on brass catcher.
A pile of A4 single-targets for iron-sight shooting, and a pile of A4 four- or six-target pages for precision shooting.
A photography calibration sheet for checking scope focus.
Although I never use them I normally have a pair of shooting glasses in there, but they're not there just now for some reason.
The case weighs 16kg and also has provision for a shoulder strap. I normally take it up first and set up, then come back for my rifles and ammo.
Not in the case but I also take an extra Caldwell rear bag (on the floor in the photos).
I always have a knife, a multi-tool, a spork and two torches on my belt as well.
Ammo either goes in the poacher pockets in the back of my jackets or in a small shoulder bag.
