Considering 44MAG Circuit Judge or 22LR Alfa.

Thoughts?

Thought I'd update this. There's no logic to this, i.e. not for any specific use, just plinkers. :/

the guys I have seen with the circuit judge use them as a fun gun, I saw a guy use one with 410 cartridges trying to hit clays and having a hell of a time
what I think of the circuit judge myself, they have there place, sights are not the best quality and are easy to break, the trigger is very hard and I have seen one that had to go back because of cylinder timing but as I said can be a lot of fun

Thanks. 410 is the 45LC though. I narrowed down to the two above.

P.s. shot 22 judge and 38/357 Alfa. Triggers are heavy, though Alfa feels a lot smoother. So hence I am thinking 22 Alfa because it lacks some flaws that judge has or 44 judge because I am setup for 44. 38/357 just feels like neither here nor there for me. 45LC I recon would lose a lot of gas due to oversized cyclinders.

Anyways, 44 or 22 is on the cards. First world problems.

Haven’t tried the Alfa. I’ve got. 22 circuit judge. It’s a fun one for plinking. Trigger is heavy. Sites aren’t too bad. I put a red dot on mine.

Only drama I had was the plastic stock breaking. Warranty job replacemeny without any dramas.

A couple of random thoughts;

- Reloading is slow; factory 38sp is significantly cheaper than 357 which is cheaper than 44.
- 44 can go up to a 340gn; better stability over those longer ranges compared to the 357. Basically a more versatile round from a handloader's perspective.

F#$k it. I think 22LR is the way to go for me. Cheap and cheerful and 22 range is only a few minutes away. Plinker for plinking :) And a bucket-o-bullets.

Agreed - you'll be able to shake yourself of the revolver carbine novelty without too much of an investment. I bet it becomes a safe-queen down the track :D

For 4 years I’ve wanted a Uberti version of the (cap and ball) 1858 Remington revolving carbine in .44 cal.
So far I’ve missed out by a matter of double digit minutes 4 times!
I’m starting to think there is only one in the country and it comes up for sale once a year.
If any one knows of one for sale please let me know.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

The Alfas are so much better fitted and finished than the Rossi's. Haven't shot either, just handled both.

I've shot both... Rossi leaks gas really bad. I couldn't knock over a metal flipping target with a 22mag. But it bounced just fine with a 22LR out of lever action. Hence 22 Rosi wasn't on the cards. I suspect 44 mag is the same, but I don't care because it's 44 mag :)

It does have a plastic feel to it. Like bad plastic, not cool composite plastic. 44 is in wood though, so that's cool. One day...

I've got the Alfa Proj in 357. It's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. I put a cheepie red dot sight on it and blast away.
One warning is that the powder spray from the cylinder can be brutal. You will bleed unless you're wearing a long sleeve shirt.

Oh, mate, my 22 Alfa girl has been passed around this forum like a eace pipe - and she loved it. Nobody bled :)

On that note, I have shot the 357 version, but with 38, it certainly stings... It's almost like there's just no perfect option. Circuit judge has an oversized chamber cone thing and leaks way too much gas, but it has blast shields. This thing is very well made, BUT no blast shield. I see a hole in the market for a third runner!
