Feedback on Remington 7615 223 pump action

Post by juststarting » 26 Dec 2017, 3:03 pm

Hi all

Been thinking about replacing my 223 with a Remington 7615 pump action. Besides that it takes 300AAC barrel, I'm wondering if anyone has any feedback on it.

There no bolt action re accuracy but they are pretty good for short range and have a heap of aftermarket parts available to transform them taticool wise. some of the parts I think are actually practical and an improvement performance wise.

For short range, fast shooting they have their place.

Pig culls or whatever.

Personally I've never liked the handling of a pump compared to a bolt action rifle. Doesn't feel right to me.

What are you doing with it is the obvious question?

Pretty much, Lole. I don't see anything worng with tacticool. I love all sort of guns... Why limit yourself to vanilla, when there are bunch of other flavours, even though some are banned. Add pistol grip, rail, red dot, adjustable stock (because I have tiny little arms), maybe new hand guard. Would be a fantastic fun gun. Not for punching paper.

Just seems like a nice, fast plinker. 1:9 twist will run 77gr (and probably 80gr) projectiles well, I think. Buy a bunch of those cheap super roo projectiles or whatever they are called and just have fun with it.

I'll even use Trail Boss, because that's my new favourite thing, lol. I'd also use 2208, but I'd love to see how it cycles and performs with Trail Boss.

Thabks mate, I've seen the video, there's a lot more people here and I figured I'd get a more practical hands on review with its nuances, etc.

Vektor H5 is better ;) I’ve shot the 7615 and personally I’m not a fan.

Give me $4k and a bottle of Jameson and I’ll call it even  You’ll have to get it off the gun smith in South Australia though that’s the only catch, plus how ever much he is going to charge me for the work I ordered ;)

I've had one for about 5 years. All I did was put a pistol grip on straight away and get a few 30 round mags. Good fun.

Mr.Seacucumber, so basically, just tooting your own horn, ay? Toot, toot. I'd love a hacked up Gallil, but! I'll let you keep it for that dosh :) And see if I can get a tricked out 7615 :) Feels like it'd be a fun gun. I think with a pistol grip 7615 looks a lot better than Vector, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

If anyone is at Little River this scorching Saturday, I'd love to have a go if you have one and going to be there...

Bro all I do is toot my horn, how else am I meant to justify my spendings!? Honestly for real though I’d save up for the Wedgetail Pump action, that thing looks like a seriously pimped up bit of kit. Don’t think it will be cheap though. They seem to be doing a little price gouging on the pistol.

Lol, me too.

Thanks, will be checking it out later today.

Basically, I want something in pump action 223, that I could pimp out into something alright looking... I also want pump action 44 or 45, but they are rare as f*** and crazy expensive. Like the Israeli Timberwolf...

Ohhhh, I just, well, you know. That's really nice looking, I can't even type now. I love it. Mr.Seacucumber, that's am awesome suggestion. I just searched for images... Do you have a link to details, etc?

*** update ***

Had a closer look, they are making semi-autos... There's something that looks like a pump action they are showing on Instgram, but that was in December 2017. No details at all about it and no images, graphics, etc. Just the barrel and the sliders. So I am guessing it's not going to be around for at least 12 months. Bah! Back to 7615 discussion.

From AHN forum Rarco engineering rarco.com.au has been posting about the wedgetail pump

Few specs so far:

Weight: approx 3.3 kg
Barrel: 18"
Magazine: PMAG LR, 10 round
Caliber: .308 WIN
Finish: Hard anodized/cerakote
RRP: TBA, approx. $2990.
Made in Australia with exception of furniture.

The rifles are in production and the plan is that they are to be released in Q1 2018 i.e by end of March at the latest.

Here's what I could find...

I like the look overall, I can see the funkiness in it, but to be perfectly honest, I like Remington a bit better. This is a little too 'space age' look for me. Dollars are not too appealing either. Longer barrel is interesting, 1:8? But for the dollars, I don't see value for money.

I really like my 7615 but it depends what you want to do with it

Got it for use on a property shooting pests and as a tacticool project, great fun and I havn't gotten sick of it.

Pros
- Fast follow up shots with the pump, just make sure you run it firmly, i've heard people have extraction issues if they baby it.
- Lots of aftermarket tacticool bits
- Accuracy is fine, i only have a red dot but it works well for 50-100M. Ozzie reviews got it sub MOA.
- Uses Magpul Pmags which are cheap to buy
- Lucky 13 rail allows use of a bipod/sling adapter and is free floating, unlike the Mesa or Warhammer (i think) rails which clamp on the the end of the barrel.

Cons
- Money sink. Basically everything including aftermarket parts is unreasonably expensive
- Ergos of shooting a pump off a bench is a bit more annoying, but i only do that to sight in.
- Short barrel is noisy even in 223
- For the price don't expect a quality fit and finish like that on Tikkas, etc.
- Cleaning is a bit of a pain

axio, thanks. This is encouraging.

I was thinking about cleaning... Can the barrel be removed, by unscrewing the bottom slider tube thing, sort of like on the Adler. Or do you have to punch pins out and remove trigger housing etc?

Yeah, the comments section is good there. Seems like the first product run is 308 and will be missing few parts. Damn good looking thing though, but seems like 223 in full (with everything attached) is not coming as soon as I'd like. And I'm not after a 30cal :/
