It surprised me that the sling swivel was not fixed to the barrel and I expected it to be driven into the shooter's left hand. Thanks for the education, bentaz

OMFG. I just got really excited. I wanted a 500 S&W in single shot rifle! I didn't even know they existed.

The .500 S&W case is nearly identical in dimensions to the ancient .50-70 Govt. which can be had in repro falling block Sharps rifles and repro Remington rolling blocks with a 1:18 twist barrel.
With one of these in your fleet you could load cast bullets and either that new fandangled smokeless powder or real powder.
...Just sayin.

You may also be interested in a 500 smith and Wesson lever action. I haven’t got an Australian website for the rifle though.

Nah, I wouldn't shoot it enough to justify those $. Needs to be under $800 new or used. Or half that for barrel.

Anyways, on the to-aquire list, one day... I'd like few other things before that.
