Yeah I've got the ruger american 22lr standard which really likes CCI subsonic hollow point. Which gives very similar groupings as yours. Its definitely my goto ammo i now exclusively use, after much testing CCI was the only ammo that gave the best muzzle velocity consistency and accuracy, even better than rws subsonic hp...

thanks, will try it later but my 18 inch barrel compact version seems like standard velocity or a little faster ones

Very little difference in CCI SV and CCI subsonic HP, only about 10fps diff, virtually the same except for the HP projectile, which is better suited for hunting.

here is some of my chrony testing of various ammo, CCI subsonic HP was the definite winner, CCI quiet segmented absolute shocker, i nicely wrote to CCI about the huge MV variation and resultant accuracy issues on the CCI quiet segmented. There response was sort of expected, "We appreciate you input and your support of our products and helping us to try to make them better." so not expecting any improvement.

RWS subsonic HP was shocking especially for the price, will buy a pack of CCI SV and do some testing with chrony on next calm day to see if any better.

Haven't tried Eley yet, but with CCI performing so well, good price and readily available, i have no need to further test.

got new scope, Burris rimfire 3-9x40 125 dollars delivered, surprisingly clear and sharp image well worth the money

SK standard plus is always very stable, 10 shot groups at 50m St Mary's indoor shooting range

new SK ammo, flat nose basic and match, feels they got more potentials than standard plus on this rifle, did the test in a hurry also the ammo is for Annie 1416 DKV rather than Ruger rimfire compact  , so just did a 10 shot group, will buy more to do the test later

Wow, nice grouping, great accuracy from one of the Americans, would you recommend one as a 1st rifle?

I think so, for 22lr, I had Zastava, Lithgow 101, savage FVSR, Anschutz 1710 DHB, I have Browning BL-22, Anschutz 1416 DKV and Ruger American compact

I like Ruger a little bite more than others, cheap, light weight, 10/15 round mag, iron sight, reasonable accuracy, it is a very good first firearm / hunting 22 for everybody

Thanks for your feedback mate. It's a big market for the 600-1200 22lr rifles.

Yeah, it's definitely an affordable thing, they seem to be a bit dearer here in SA. I just have a budget of about $1500 so looking at all the options at the moment. Hurry up licence so I can go shoulder some and see how they feel.

Which rings did you pair with the bases? I guess it is scope dependent but it looks nice and snug
