At a guess, if cared for properly, 4 to 5000 rounds. I have a 7-08 that is now in need of a re-chamber at @ 4500 rounds.

And at 60000psi would you say roughly 2 to 3000 rounds?

Dunno. :unknown: I don't run any of my loads that high. I used to in a 6.5, but throat life was about 2000 rounds before needing a re-chamber.
Lesson learned.

Sweet thanks mate, I think your estimates sound about right :drinks: will be sticking to 40k psi and only when the need for jacketed arises.

I have the reamer but have had the biggest issue with dies and go guage. Plus, caah has been funnelled into projects around the property. It's on the backburner but I'm still keen to do it.

I would think anybody with a lathe can make you the dies and go gauge?
I make bullet sizing dies out of 7/8" bolts.

Yep thats about right. I think changing mindset to a barrel is a consumable like brass has to be brought into the equation. Especially when shooting a lot and for accuracy. Most target shooters think this way and will often swap out a barrel based just on the number of rounds rather than have it go off mid season. Certainly if you are ever on a State or National team the 3000 round is the max that you will have on the barrel at the end of all the practices lead up comps and then the final and you must have a backup gun as well.

16" barrels  I think my 24" lever rifles are stunted! Hard to visualize a 16" one when your used to 30" and more! My .50-70 rolling block has a 36" barrel.

Ok, f*** it, I've been simmering on it for a bit... Remington 7615 with pistol grip, adjustable stock and low power optic. I decided I want one.

Why? Because it looks fun.

For a hunting rifle, I really like the idea of the CZ-527 Carbine (in 223). The triggers on those things are amazeballs, and I do love the way a carbine points (and obviously carries).

Wish (-ful thinking) List,
.402" cal Enfield Martini Mk 1, B Pattern. Still 15 in the world, I have even held one, plus the 8 shot magazine for the A Pattern. The one I held sold for only $15000 a few years ago, so if I sold a couple of bikes, and one ever came on the market again, maybe.

Here’s my Warwick JS. I kinda gave up on it for a while and even started looking around at the OAF in early December, then got the phone call that they made it to me on the list.

The bigger part of the strong room is not that hard or expensive to build actually. I made a multipurpose farm shed that has stables and the full outer wall is 4inch concrete upto 1.2m. I did it in a few sections that held a concrete trucks worth of cement each time 5m3. I rented the form work that is like mechano it all clicks together with some mesh in the middle of the 4 inch and a vibrator oh and a cement truck pumper it was only about $600 for the 5m3 back then and it goes a long way. Anyway for the big project on the scale of things it worked out pretty good. if just doing a 4m*4m I would just make up the form work myself perhaps. The door would be the biggest challenge or cost I would think. A nice project to dream about, or maybe go the whole hog and make into a doomsday bunker man cave, all the same thing.

A-10 is 30mm GAU-8. ( a whole lot of BRRRRRT )
F/A-18 is 20mm M61A1

I can personally recommend the M134 from Dillon Aero (formally GAU-2) as a bunch of fun! And can be aimed and fired without an aircraft attached ;-)
