I'm just going of hornady s loads off their website.

Are we talking handloads here or is there a factory 308 load that claims 2000ftlb at 300y?

I think their best 300y load was 1858 or so which was their super fast super performance 165sst.

Whereas they have several 06s that are over 2000 for 300y.

But yeah much of a muchness key point was that 7mm is at least different enough than 308 to justify it

Fair point it is my hand loads with a 155 gr projectile although well under ADI loading it is fast due to longer barrel. I load 45.1 gr AR2206H and get about 3000 fps

I have a 30-06 and wanted something bigger, after shooting a 7RM and a 338 WM i didn't think id be able to shoot anything bigger than the 30-06 180 or 200g. But the 9.3 isn't as snappy as the Magnums, its definitely more recoil but doesn't rattle you fillings out of you head. 250 and 285g out of the 9.3 is just a another step up from 30-06 or 308.

I struggle to find the value in sako...
Has a look at a walnut tikka Hunter today.
Not bad.

What rifle do others carry on say a 2 night hike for deer?

This bloke does some great reviews, he had the same dilemma as you wanted more overkill and a wad of cash burning a hole in his pocket , check it out
