Walnut Tactical Style Stock for CZ527

Post by TBJ » 18 Feb 2018, 10:22 am

Hi all,
I've been looking for a new stock for my CZ527 Varmint for the past 6-7 months or so, and I've been lucky enough to try many mates guns to see what type of stock I want such as Boyds, B&C, H-S and such, I shot a mates Boyds Pro-Varmint a couple weeks ago as well as a McMillon and really loved them and the way they, only problem is I really want a walnut/solid wood stock to go on it instead of a laminate or kevlar, so here's my question is there a stock maker, or another company that would make a similar "Tactical" style stock out of wood to fit my action? or what are the chances that boyds would make a walnut one as I see they offer walnut in many of they're stocks and have seen pics around of walnut Pro-Varmint/Tacticool stocks on CZ452's and 455's.
Not sure if anyone can really help with this or not but I thought I'd ask.
thanks

Hatchers rifle stocks here in Vic will probably have something like what you want. A pistol grip is not really a possibility but you can make a steeper angled grip. Im happy to finish one off if your not into that.

Just as he does most of his business online and works from home I will just say he is in the outer not too far though norther suburbs. Contact him and he will be very helpful in working out what you are after. Have a look at the stocks on his website first to see if there is something close to what you are after. http://hatchersriflestocks.com.au/

I've had a look, the only one he offer's online for the CZ527 is the thumbhole although there is a nice looking walnut version of the McMillan A5 there that would interesting to know if he would inlet for a CZ527.

I dont think it would be a problem but give him a ring. He has added heaps of stocks since I last looked at his website. The tactical section is all new I like some of those now sure if I like the lithgow one or the CZ527 one more. I had to do the complete inleting for my stock as it was not on his radar at the time. I would probable go for something between the those two stocks. I like making it a bit harder for him. He just has to leave more wood in the area you want to change and then you can shape that part. Pretty easy really with a few files and a sander. You do have to allow probably another $100 for the finishing materials then other hardware such as butplates depending on what you want can be as easy as a limbsaver or Pachmere but if you want adjustable that can add $$ then any other fittings such as action screw stainless or pillars ect but all doable. You dont really need all the adjustable features if you leave enough wood from the start then you just cut and file to fit.

They look Ok I am not a big fan of the laminates. I have one but prefer the natural wood. Of all of those I would go to the coming soon model Benchrest. It has the flat bottom stock good for rear bags and it joins the pistol grip to give that more strength. They can still be used off hand but just work so much better with a rear bag if you shoot prone or from a bench. My choice of the models that they have now would be similar the model D SharpShooter Ambidextrous Thumbhole Style
Option D: Monte Carlo Comb with Traditional Butt
but really it has a straight comb not a true curved Monte Carlo which causes the rifle to recoil up when fired.
