Stix wrote:Anyone eith experience with CZ 527 rifles...
Im considering one in a small cartridge
I understand the Lux version has open sights, which ill not use...ill mount a scope...
Both versions are the same price...
Personally im not a fan of the curved comb stocks, but if tgere is an advantage to them, id learn to like the look...
So my questions...
Any of you own either...?
If so what stock configoration did you buy & why...?
Any pros or cons to them...
Any comments...
Cheers

bottom line , it's all down to fit i suppose. hogs back is good for me cause i'm 6' 4" and got a big block head. a lot of straight comb stocks make me crook my neck to get my eye line right. don't wanna use high scope mounts . my mod 70 winchester stock isn't too bad, the hogs backs on my krico's and CZ 2E are nice for me. suppose just like a shotty ya gotta find something that fits. actually i think scopes are mounted a bit high on some cz's cause of their 90 degree bolt throw. old mates 221 fireball 527 was comfortable to shoot with a straight stock, think it had factory cz mounts ?

Don't know if there's an advantage as such over the straight comb but it was very easy to get used to. Finding rings for it has been a pita as 3/8 are to small & 5/8 are to big .I think they're 15mm. Ended up getting some from a mates collection.
bigrich wrote:nice sako stix. looks like the stock is made out of recycled tigers ! unusual grain. gotta take care with nice timber but.I'm OCD when it comes to looking after my rifles, i almost cried when i saw the dents in the stock of my 70 winnie super grade from the handbrake in my mates ute. live and learn, sniff, sniff. those factory CZ mounts do seem to sit high DB. they suit my big block head well but !
