Anyone got any feed back on these? been looking at the Howa package deal online for $650 and reckon I might grab one in 243...the scope wouldn't be the best but can always upgrade it later,

IMO your better off buying without the scope, and get it separately.

I am guessing it has a 1:10 twist barrel, what projectiles are you planning to use?

not sure, how will it go with the heavier pills?

locally i'd probably be using around the 75-87GR........if I was going out west chasing pigs and goats I might go up around the 100GR if they shoot ok?

my mate uses 75gr federal pills they knock over the goats and pigs well on the property, thou his a crack shot, shot placement is everything, but whatever he hits with those 75gr depart this planet very quickly, and we also do some long shots,as we get competitive him with 243 me with my swede and quite often plicking goats from 400m and further .

My 243 1:10 shoots the 105 Gamekings very accurately enough to bring down a decent size animal as I can place the shot pretty well out to any humane sort of distance for the conditions. If I target shoot with it I use the 69g Berger targets that can also be used on varmints read foxes again with very good accuracy.

thanks for the info mate, what scope came with it if you don't mind me asking?

this one comes with a Nikko Stirling Panamax 3-9x40.... but I'm thinking of putting a Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 instead

For the pakage price of $650 its about the same price to buy the bare gun at the same store.
I was planning on getting one and using the scope for my 22mag or onsell the scope to bring the cost down even further.

That’s a good idea to cut the costs imo. As for the Howa, I am also a big fan. My misses has one in 223 and it’s a ripper. Go for it and prepare to enjoy.
Cheers.
