Sako Finnlight in 308

Post by brinny » 12 May 2018, 10:32 pm

Been promising myself another Sako for some time now....in 308....But as im getting on in years now, the need to cut down the weight wandering up and down hills chasing sambar these days was on my mind....and my ever reliable Rem 700 308 has got some weight about it....
Off to the LGS and found something that fits really well, is super light, and....a Sako....A Sako 85 in Finnlight....
Ive never been a fan of synthetic stocks at all.....but this one really impressed me....
Fitted it up with Hillver bridge mounts, and a VX1 3-9x50 leupold scope....should do the job nicely....
Now to blood it in....

Well done, she is a real looker. Enjoy running in you new Sako. A great bit of gear to carry in the bush. Look forward to your report on how she shoots.

Very nice.
I'm currently trying to decide between finnlight 2 and carbonlight in 7mm rem mag.

Nice cal as well MS....i was a little unsure to be honest about the Finnlight....being such a lightweight rifle, i thought it would kill at both ends.....I took it down to Area 51 yesterday, just to fire some rounds to see what and how it performed....I was VERY pleasantly suprised of the LACK of recoil....It is a rifle that i could comfortably shoot for a length of time without any problems....Im using homeloads of 42.5 grns 2206H pushing 180 grn interlocks....My Rem 700 is a much heavier rifle and has a fair old thump to it....a lot more than the Finnlight.....I have heard some good reports on the carbonlights as well...Let us know what you decide on....be keen to hear your thoughts.....
