Winchester Model 1885, in .45-90 WCF Back from the dead

Winchester Model 1885, in .45-90 WCF.

A mate returned this venerable old lady to shooting condition for me, and he handed it back to me today.

I fired a round from it; we were waiting for the overseer to arrive, so we could load a wool truck.

They were 350gn cast pills. No idea what sort of charge behind them, but it was a smokeless, though he does have some made up in black powder.
It was not quite as bitey as a .30-30 to shoot, but quite quiet, and I'd hate to be on the receiving end...

I added a piss-ant .308 130Gn HP, and a 7mm-08 120Gn V-Max round into the ammo, to show the length of those shells.

It looks like the rifle was made in 1915, has a 30" barrel, and now shoots like a freaking dream.
One of the hopes I had as a kid, was to see this rifle in working use again.
Happy days.

Cheers,

Rod.

At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?
