It just happened! I don't know, kinda just, bam, and there it was (thanks for the help Brett).

Now I can return my 44 to its full powered loads and replace it with this cute little plinkanator3000 (Henry big boy classic carbine, 16.5" in 357).

C*nt of a thing is that nobody in the area had 357 cartridges, nothing I wanted anyway. So dies are in the mail, box of HRBC's finest is in the mail. Brass, check, primers check, powder, check. Exciting week ahead :)

The pictures don't really do it justice, I saw one Saturday morning at St Mary's and it looked so sweet. The funny bit was that one of the staff there had bought it from the same shop as you J.S but paid a bit more then you did despite working in the industry. Sometimes, it's not who you know but who likes you :drinks:

nice rifle, sounds like there is a bit more to the story of how it came to be :) Brass and wood just go so well together.

Nah, not much to the story other than what's here. This one gets crossed off the wishlist. Only a handful to go.

If anyone is selling a cheap coach with hammers, that's another on the wishlist.

Have you enough room in the safe to cover your current wishlist? Do you have a pump center-fire? 223,243,6.5? already or on the wish list must have detachable mag for quick reloading.

Very kewl mate - you running carbide dies JS? That's the big drawcard for me; being able to skip lubing and cleaning. Also, just in case you weren't aware, Les Moncrieff from HRBC is an absolute legend; he can usually size your projs to match your bore. I usually slug, then order some (sized) sample packs at spec + some a thou and two over. Followed by bit of preliminary load development, and then I order a larger bulk pack.

In2anity, yep, carbide. Use them in other caliber, love it. I order from HRBC a bit. He's actually sending me some samples I've asked for, which is nice. Interestingly, I've asked for samples from a couple of places. HRBC is my go to, but I thought I'd branch out this time. Les is like $13.10 posted, for 43 pills (by weight) for various shapes. A different place was like four times as much. Considering his pills are powder coated and rated to 2000fps, I don't think there's a need to look elsewhere.

I've always had good luck with barrels. Whatever the claimed diameter is, it always is that. Even my 91/30 Mosin, made in 1943, aka the original and only true tactical rifle slugs to .3105. I triple checked, I was surprised. Anyway, no need for anything custom, so all good.

Me too, customer service is second to none. My only complaint is I'm pretty sure they're a little harder than some of the competitors out there. They poke nice holes through small-to-medium sized game without expanding, and through a microgroove barrel they're rather finicky to get to group. Zero problems with cut rifling however. Horses for courses I guess. I hope you "have a blast" with her mate :drinks:

I use them in my Marlin, that has microgroves I think. I don't think other than sighting it in, when I put peep sights on it, it ever shot at paper lol. But has no issues hitting soft drink cans/bottles at some distance. I don't hunt with it. Bentaz and I were throwing lead at his 330m tank target with iron sights, very consistently. I think people overthink these rifles. They are not scalpels, they are more like, throwing kitchen appliances at high velocities lol

Can't argue with that, but if you're shooting comp it's natural to chase groups - albeit perhaps a psychological factor more than anything. Nothing more frustrating than knowing the dude next to you is shooting an inherently more accurate setup.

I'll shoot it with stock and see how we go. If I don't like them, I'll get Skinner. I am not a big fan of these sights, I swapped them out on all other rifles, but I'll give them a go again, to be sure.
