Unusual Primers Qn

I was given 42 of these today.
Anyone know what they are?. I'm guessing military.

Berdan primers. Anvil is formed in the primer pocket of the case.

Berdan primers. Anvil is formed in the primer pocket of the case.


Sort of guessed they were Berdon. But much larger than LRP. that's what stumped me.

Nr 6000 are for 303 British, still a few keen people reloading ex-military Berdsn cases.

Berdan are larger diameter than boxer.

You could get some berdan brass. A bit painful to reload but can certainly be done. Most of the older military ammo in various chamberings would be berdan primed. If I were going to make the effort it would be with Norma 6.5x55mm, doubt I'd bother with other chamberings.

Na, it's only about 44 primers.

I thought they were same size as boxer. :unknown: :wtf:

Berdan primers are and will be hard to come by so someone will want them.

Yes there are quite a few different sizes of Berdan, it is a different deal than boxer primers.
